Berlin Film Crew are back

Last year it was the previously empty 'william of orange' that was refitted as a surfer shop, this year they where up Berry Head (in the rain I may add, me and OHenry got a good soaking) filming. It was all there, catering vans, actors, camera and action. I wonder where Berry Head will end up being viewed?

The potential of the Brixham Glory has shown through and warm welcome to visitors. Will blogg anything else might come to light. Its important for the beauty and potential of Brixham to shine through. We will be updating the showcase website soon to get this across on the internet.

Very best wishes Brixham Showcase

BBC Causaulty

For those that spotted it the BBC where down again. Footage taken by the 'tin' cafe by the coast guard and around to preston sands. Sharks in the water, flares, not fashion items, in legs, later and we where privilaged to see the unspoilt coastline along Churston woods. Bit silly trying to go surfing in preston bay though. This is a lovely low pitched beach ideal for the family day out, I suppose that comes with artistic licience, reminds me the TV licience is up again.

Also a shame that we shared the natural beauty with the nation, but not acknowldgement that it was Brixham. Missed the great via-duct behind, but sure the program designers would see the potential of diaster if a train got stuck on the viaduct. Just the kind of thing they like to get their teeth into.

I dont known why I find the program so appealing, its great. Watched it for many years and pleased episode in Brixham. I think its the British spirit of coping in a crisis, the fire of excitment that fuels us through these periods.

Talking about railways, we are currently looking for somebody experienced in listing buildings. Please contact us if this is you bag. Please also remember to vote on the Brunnel way, the ecoroute from the ashes of the Brixham railway. www.brixhamrailway.org.uk

Brixham Seaquirium planned to become arcade amusement

I have just found the yellow posters on the lampost near by from the planning office, that the Seaquirium is to be coneverted, or its planned for this to happen, to an amusement arcade. I dont know if the current owner is Mr Pope, From Popes Electrics, but I have asked Liz Phillips of the Herald and the curator of the Heritage Museum to inquire to what is going to happen to the historic signage, the model of the trawler, the balck and white historic photographs and the old octopus with the moving legs, which I was told was stored upstairs.

All the tanks have been emptied and the massive concrete structures that held them demolished. The skip outside is full of the contents of this 'old world' attraction that has been the fabric of Brixham, for so long. With the interest in the natural world this surely was an untapped potential, which alligned so well with what makes Brixham Brixham.

Nice bright day in Brixham, Aqarium

Just to say those not in Brixham, its a nice sunny day. Just going upto Berry head to walk the dogs, will take some pictures for you.

Also trying to find out what is happening to the aquarium. This is currently being gutted, I hope its a re-fit, will update as information comes in.

The Battery research centre is coming on leaps and bounds. I was their last night. The traditional rock faced skirt has been finished and the concrete blockwork nearly done. This will also provide a much desired toilet facility, with disabled facilities.

Those of you in King Street will have noticed that the camera crews where out again. The 2 buy or not 2 buy program came to town. The presenter seen walking up king street early on in the week. We will have to find out which houses where looked at. The missed the best one, the coffin house!

Best wishes Paul
